Live from Coleman Coliseum

Coleman Coliseum

Coleman Coliseum

I’ve arrived in Tuscaloosa, Ala., for tonight’s game against Alabama. The last time I was in Coleman Coliseum I was a camper at the Mark Gottfried basketball camp. I’ve actually scored eight points here and even though Rick Ray is short on players I doubt he’ll be calling for me to suit up tonight. De’Runnya Wilson is dressed out for Mississippi State tonight so I guess he’s been given the okay from Dan Mullen to play hoops. Remember that tonight’s game is on SEC-TV which is on MyMS in the Tupelo area from my understanding.

Starting Lineups:

Alabama: 7-8, 1-1

4- Carl Engstrom, C, 7-1, 265, RJr.

11- Shannon Hale, F, 6-8, 220, Fr.

12- Trevor Releford, G, 6-0, 190, Sr.

20- Levi Randolph, G, 6-5, 210, Jr.

32- Retin Obasohan, G, 6-1, 205, RSo.

Mississippi State: 11-4, 1-1

1- Fred Thomas, G, 6-5, 206, So.

3- Colin Borchert, F, 6-8, 231, Sr.

15- I.J. Ready, G, 5-11, 170, Fr.

20- Gavin Ware, F, 6-9, 268, So.

32- Craig Sword, G, 6-3, 194, So.

Alabama has players on its roster from Switzerland, Sweden and Belgium.

They played the Undertaker’s entrance music as MSU was announced.

The atmosphere in here is the opposite of electric.

Sword didn’t have a single field goal in Saturday’s win over Ole Miss but begins the game with a layup tonight.

They’ve got closed captioning here.

15:51 5-2 UA Sword 2, Hale 2, Releford 2

Thomas with a trey to tie things up.

11:51 15-9 UA Releford 7 points

Next Thursday will be 90’s night here at Coleman Coliseum. I’ll have to check my schedule.

Alabama running suicides before the second half starts.

Just like in the first half, Sword starts the second with a basket.

MSU is 2-3 when trailing at the half this season.

Trivante Bloodman starts the second half at point guard for MSU. Ready is still bothered by the charge he took earlier.

Releford gets a technical foul.

Releford buries two 3-pointers on back-to-back trips to give the Tide an 18-point lead

Ready is likely out the remainder of the game with a headache.

Sign I’m getting old. PA announcer just said “Classic hits from the 90’s”

Wilson checking in for a second time.

Official statistics

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.

I feel like we have to scratch this season too…

I am not impressed… The game shouldn’t have been this big of a margin in the loss…

Anyone find out why Applewhite transferred… Sadly I am not surprised and won’t be surprised with more coming…

It doesn’t look good for MSU basketball… We do look great against cupcakes though…
