The preseason accolades continue to roll in for Mississippi State’s baseball team.
The Diamond Dogs were ranked No. 4 by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Division I poll on Monday.
The ranking is fifth Top 10 ranking for John Cohen’s club this season having been picked No. 2 by Collegiate Baseball, No. 4 by USA Today/ Coaches, No. 6 by Perfect Game and No. 8 by Baseball America.
Junior closer Jonathan Holder also picked up a preseason award on Monday being selected a third team All-American by Baseball America. It is the fourth preseason All-American honor for Holder.
Outfielder Demarcus Henderson and second baseman Brett Pirtle were picked the 38th and 41st best seniors by Baseball America while pitcher Brandon Woodruff is considered the 33rd best junior. Pitcher Dakota Hudson was also selected the 35th best freshman.
The MSU ticket office also announced it had set a school record with 5,644 season ticket purchases, surpassing the 2010 record by 12.
