Mississippi State’s first junior day of the year yielded two commitments.

The Bulldogs landed pledges from Milledgeville, Ga., four-star running back Kentavious Thomas and Walnut safety Armani Linton bringing the 2015 class up to seven. Five of those commitments are rated four-star prospects by 247Sports.com.

Thomas, a 5-foot-11, 205-pounder, rushed for 1,104 yards and 24 touchdowns and also had 594 receiving yards at Baldwin High School. He is rated the nation’s No. 177th overall prospect and 19th best running back.

Linton received an offer from the Bulldogs on Saturday and committed within five minutes.  He rushed for 716 yards and 13 touchdowns and a pair of interceptions after transferring from Dutchtown (La.) to Walnut for his junior year.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
