Due to multiple flight cancellations, Mississippi State’s four-game series with Hofstra had to be modified.

Now instead of facing the Pride on opening weekend the Diamond Dogs will play a three-game set with Western Carolina. Game one is scheduled for a 6:30 p.m. start on Friday, game two Saturday at 4 p.m. and the Sunday finale at 1:30 p.m.

The Catamounts also had their opening weekend plans cancelled due to weather. Western Carolina was set to host Ohio for a four-game series but will now head south to Starkville.

MSU is 2-1 all-time against Western Carolina with all three meetings coming in the 1987, 1988 and 1989 NCAA Regionals in Starkville.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
