Holder on Golden Spikes watch list

Jonathan Holder

Jonathan Holder

Last season Mississippi State closer Jonathan Holder set the school’s single-season record with 21 saves and now holds the Bulldogs career mark of 30.

The junior All-American was recognized as one of 60 players around the country on the watch list for the Golden Spikes Award given to the top player in college baseball.

Holder enters the season 13 saves shy of the Southeastern Conference career record and 23 short of the national mark.

13 players from the SEC were named to the Golden Spikes watch list. The midseason list for the award will be released on April 10.

In his career, Holder has a 4-1 record with a 1.19 earned run average, 120 strikeouts and 22 walks in 83 innings of work.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
