Mississippi State junior reliever Ross Mitchell has been named Co-Pitcher of the Week by the Southeastern Conference.
The southpaw made two relief appearances during the Bulldogs six games last week holding opponents to a .091 batting average against him. Mitchell went 1-0 giving up just two hits and a walk in seven shutout innings with three strikeouts.
“All of us are extremely appreciative of the SEC for recognizing Ross’ work this weekend and our success as a whole this past week,” said MSU pitching coach Butch Thompson in a statement. “It is a testament to the connection Ross has with his catchers as well as our identity as a whole on defense.”
Mitchell has made five appearances on the year with a 1.50 ERA, 13 strikeouts and four walks in 18 innings of work. The Smyrna, Tenn., native is a perfect 17-0 in his career at MSU.
Mitchell shared the honor with Missouri’s Brett Graves.
