Dudy Noble Field

I just arrived at the ballpark for tonight’s game against South Alabama. It’s a rematch from last year’s Starkville Regional. If you can get ESPN3.com you can watch along there. Also the women’s SEC Tournament game against Missouri is on SportSouth and men’s game vs. Georgia is on CSS. So there’s some good channel surfing options tonight. Both teams are on the field getting loose. State is wearing maroon hats, those ugly Astros type jerseys and white pants while South Alabama is clad in red hats, navy jerseys and grey britches.

MSU women are up 43-42 with 17 minutes left in the second half, the men are up 3-1 early on.

SCORELESS

BOTTOM 1ST

Vickerson grounded to first but after Jones made the stop, he simply dropped the ball on the way to touch the base. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that one before.

Bell throws the ball away on a pickoff attempt and Vickerson motors to third. Don’t think I’ve ever seen two errors made before the second hitter of the game has finished batting…well maybe in T-Ball.

Detz follows up with a single through the right side scoring Vickerson, RBI.

Detz took second on a wild pitch.

Rea dropped a single into left, Detz advanced to third.

Pirtle popped up to left and the ball was dropped by the USA outfield. Not sure why I’m surprised that the home scoring ruled that an RBI single as Detz came in to score. Rea advanced to second.

Heck tried a sac bunt but Rea was forced out at third. Pirtle advanced to second, one out.

Garner flew out to center, Pritle tagged up to third, two outs.

Henderson struck out swinging, three outs.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
