Baseball game rescheduled as Saturday doubleheader

dudy noble tarpNo. 16 Mississippi State’s series opener with Arkansas was postponed Friday due to impending weather.

Instead the Diamond Dogs will play a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 2 p.m.

It marks the second time this season that MSU has played a Saturday doubleheader in conference play. The Bulldogs swept a twinbill at Georgia 6-1 and 4-1 on March 15.

State leads the overall series 46-39 against the Razorbacks including a 21-15 record in Starkville. Arkansas claimed two games from last year’s series in Fayetteville with each team scoring nine runs on the weekend.

Mississippi State owns a league-best 16-2 record in doubleheaders since 2012 while the Hogs are 1-7 in that span.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
