Mississippi State’s Jacob Lindgren was selected to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Stopper of the Year watch list on Wednesday.
In 15 appearances out of the bullpen the junior from Bay St. Louis sports a 3-0 record with three saves and a team-low 1.50 earned run average. Lindgren leads the Bulldogs with 57 strikeouts in 30 innings of work. He has allowed just five earned runs this season on 15 hits and 12 walks.
Lindgren was among seven Southeastern Conference players among the 50 players chosen to the watch list by the NCBWA. The list will be narrowed to the Division I saves leader and four other finalists on June 4 and the winner will be announced at the College World Series.
UCLA closer David Berg is also on the watch list and was named the 2013 Stopper of the Year. UC-Irvine’s Sam Moore currently leads the nation with 16 saves.
MSU juniors Jonathan Holder and Ross Mitchell were on the NCBWA Preseason Stopper of the Year watch list announced in February.
