Mississippi State will not have to wait long to make its appearance on the new SEC Network.

The Bulldogs 2014 season opener against Southern Miss on Aug. 30 will be televised on the SEC Network with a 6:30 p.m. kickoff. The network launches on Aug. 14 and will carry games featuring all 14 teams within the first four weeks.

MSU and USM will meet on the gridiron for the first time in 24 years. The Golden Eagles lead the series 14-12-1 although the Bulldogs have won the last two meetings.

The 2014 opener will also mark the 100th anniversary of Scott Field and will also be the first game inside the $75 million renovation of Davis Wade Stadium.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
