For the third time this season, Mississippi State’s Ross Mitchell was named the SEC Pitcher of the Week.
The junior southpaw fired a complete game shutout over Auburn on Saturday. It was Mitchell’s fourth complete game in conference play and was the first to be thrown on the road in the league this season.
The Smyrna, Tenn., native threw 132 pitches and surrendered just four hits to the Tigers in the 3-0 victory. Mitchell leads the SEC with 89.1 innings pitched despite not becoming a starter until March 15.
Mitchell is 7-4 on the year with a 2.12 earned run average, 42 strikeouts and 22 walks. He shared the SEC Pitcher of the Week honor with Georgia’s Ryan Lawlor.
