Former Mississippi State women’s basketball coach Jerry Henderson lost his battle with cancer over the weekend.

The 72-year old passed away Saturday and funeral services were held Tuesday morning.

Henderson coached the Lady Bulldogs from 1990-95 going 62-101. He also coached in the prep ranks at Madison-Ridgeland High School, Warren Central, Grace Christian Academy, Starkville Academy and Starkville High School.

Henderson is survived by his wife Cricket Filson Henderson, children Leigh Ellen Henderson, Clinton Douglas Henderson and Shannon Henderson Paul and two grandchildren.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
