Mississippi State had 14 incoming freshmen football players enroll for the first summer term this week.

Safety Brandon Bryant (Rosa Fort), offensive lineman Deion Calhoun (Pleasant Grove, Ala.), kicker/ punter Logan Cooke (Columbia Academy), safety J.T. Gray (Clarksdale), linebacker Gerri Green (Greenville-Weston), defensive tackle Grant Harris (Clinton), defensive tackle Braxton Hoyett (Pelham, Ala.), wide receiver Jesse Jackson (Petal),offensive lineman Elgton Jenkins (Clarksdale), running back Dontavian Lee (Forrest County AHS), cornerback Chris Rayford (Byhalia), quarterback Elijah Staley (Marietta, Ga.), defensive tackle Cory Thomas (Bessemer, Ala.) and running back Aeris Williams (West Point) were all admitted to the university and have started classes and workouts.

Junior college transfer offensive lineman Jocquell Johnson along with early high school graduate and quarterback Nick Fitzgerald both enrolled in January and went through spring practices with the Bulldogs.

MSU has seven other members of its 2014 class that have yet to enroll.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
