Taylor Stark

Former Mississippi State transfer and current Delta State standout Taylor Stark was selected in the 30th round by the Milwaukee Brewers.

The Flowood native was the 896th pick of the MLB Draft and spent two seasons in Starkville before finishing his career for the Statesmen.

Stark made 16 relief appearances as a senior going 2-1 with four saves and a 2.66 earned run average. The right-hander struck out 23 and walked four in 20 1/3 innings of work.

Stark was a two-way player for the Bulldogs lettering from 2011-12. During his sophomore season at MSU, he hit .245 with a triple and four runs batted in. Stark also made eight relief appearances going 1-0 with a 3.68 ERA, five walks and five strikeouts in 7.1 innings.

The Brewers also drafted State junior right-handed pitcher Brandon Woodruff in the 11th round on Saturday.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
