Mississippi State assistant baseball coach Jake Wells is leaving for Louisiana Tech according to Kendall Rogers of Perfect Game.

Wells is reportedly joining Greg Goff’s staff in Ruston that will also include Rick McCarty, who served under Goff at Campbell University. Wells played for Goff at the University of Montevallo in 2004-05. Goff was hired by Louisiana Tech earlier this month.

Wells spent two years on John Cohen’s staff in Starkville serving as first base coach and coordinator of baseball camps.

Prior to MSU, Wells was the head coach at Marion Military Institute.

Louisiana Tech is expected to announce Wells hire on July 1.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
