Lashard Durr hoped to be part of Mississippi State’s roster this fall after signing with the Bulldogs back in February.

The former Harrison Central cornerback did not qualify academically and is headed to Copiah-Lincoln Community College.

But the detour did not prevent Durr from reaffirming things with MSU as he became the third member of the 2016 class.

Durr will play this season alongside 2015 Bulldog commitments Donald Gray and Johnathan Calvin. He is the Bulldogs third commitment for 2016.

The 5-foot-11, 181-pounder made 61 tackles, three interceptions, broke up seven passes, forced a fumble and blocked a field goal as a high school senior.

Durr enrolled at Co-Lin in June and plans to enroll at State in January 2016.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
