Prescott, Beckwith honored by SEC

Junior quarterback Dak Prescott was honored as the Co-Offensive Player of the Week by the SEC this week sharing the award with Alabama wide receiver Amari Cooper.

Prescott accounted for 373 yards and three touchdowns in the Bulldogs win at LSU. He completed 15-of-24 passes for 268 yards and two touchdowns while also adding 22 attempts on the ground for 105 yards and another score.

The 6-foot-2, 230-pounder from Haughton, La., is the first MSU player to receive the award since his predecessor Tyler Russell in 2012.

Prescott was not the only Bulldog honored by the league as senior Ben Beckwith was named SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week. The 6-foot-3, 306-pound Benton native is the first former walk-on to win the honor in school history.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
