Dak Prescott was named as Athlon Sports’ Player of the Week following his 373 yard, three touchdown performance for the 14th ranked Bulldogs.

The junior quarterback completed 15-of-24 passes for 268 yards and two touchdowns while also adding 22 attempts on the ground for 105 yards and another score.

Prescott guided MSU to its fifth-straight 500-yard game on offense compiling 570 yards, the most surrendered by a Les Miles coached team at LSU.

The 6-foot-2, 230-pounder from Haughton, La., has completed 60.4-percent of his throws for 964 yards, 11 touchdowns and two interceptions. Prescott has also rushed for 378 yards and three more scores.

Others honored by Athlon Sports for their performances over the weekend were Defensive Player of the Week Gionni Paul of Utah, Freshman of the Week Samaje Perine of Oklahoma and National Coordinator of the Week Lane Kiffin of Alabama.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
