Mississippi State defensive end Preston Smith was honored for the fourth consecutive week earning Defensive Senior of the Week by the Senior Bowl.

Smith had his string of three straight SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week awards end this week.

The 6-foot-6, 270-pounder from Stone Mountain, Ga., made five tackles, two stops for loss and a sack in the Bulldogs 34-29 win at LSU over the weekend.

Through four games, Smith has made 14 tackles, five for loss, three sacks, three pass deflections, one forced fumble, two blocked field goals and two interceptions including one that he returned 21-yards for a touchdown.

Smith shared Senior of the Week honors with Nebraska running back Ameer Abdullah.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
