Mississippi State quarterback Dak Prescott continues to reap the rewards from his stellar play this season.

Prescott was honored as Athlon Sports’ National Player of the Week for the second time in as many games after accounting for 347 yards of offense and five touchdowns in the Bulldogs 48-31 victory over Texas A&M.

The 6-foot-2, 230-pound junior from Haughton, La., completed 19 of 25 passes for 259 yards and two touchdowns while adding 77 yards and three more scores on the ground. Prescott also added an 11-yard reception as well.

For his versatility, Prescott was picked to the Paul Hornung Award honor roll along with TCU tailback B.J. Catalon and Georgia running back Todd Gurley.

Prescott was also named as one of eight signal callers as a Star of the Week by the Manning Award. Prescott has won the Manning Award Player of the Week twice already this season.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
