For the second time in as many games, Mississippi State senior Ben Beckwith has been named the Southeastern Conference Offensive Lineman of the Week.

Beckwith, a former walk-on from Benton Academy, earned his first career start at center Saturday against Texas A&M due to the suspension of Dillon Day. The 6-foot-3, 306-pounder played every snap at center during the Bulldogs 48-31 victory.

Beckwith had started 17 straight games at right guard prior to his move to center against the Aggies.

He joins current NFL offensive linemen Derek Sherrod and Gabe Jackson as the only multi-time winners of the SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week Award during the same season.

The Bulldogs have now won seven conference awards this season, more than any other program in the SEC.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
