MSU graces Sports Illustrated cover

 

SI CoverMississippi State will grace the cover of one of the world’s most prestigous magazines this week.

The Bulldogs along with instate rival Ole Miss will share the cover of the latest Sports Illustrated. The magazines will be available at newstands beginning on Wednesday.

Sports Illustrated senior writer Pete Thamel spent an entire week in Starkville leading up to MSU’s win over Texas A&M on Saturday. Thamel’s content will feature interviews with head coach Dan Mullen, quarterback Dak Prescott and director of athletics Scott Stricklin.

It is the first time any Bulldog athletics has been selected for the cover of Sports Illustrated although former athletes such as MLB closer Jonathan Papelbon have graced the cover on several occasions.

State’s rise to No. 3 in the national rankings has also been featured in Rolling Stone, USA Today, Washington Post, CBSSports.com, New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Yahoo Sports, FoxSports.com and ESPN.com.
