Former Diamond Dogs in long drive golf finals

Two former Mississippi State players are making their way in golf now that their baseball careers are completed.

Connor Powers and Jeff Flagg are two of eight finalists in the RE/ MAX World Long Drive Championship for a chance to win $250,000 on Nov. 4 at 9 p.m. on the Golf Channel.

Powers and Flagg will be featured on Golf Channel throughout this month including the first three episodes of the Long Drive Championship on Oct. 14, 21 and 28.

Powers qualified with a drive of 402 yards while Flagg  drove the ball 397 yards.

Powers lettered at MSU from 2007-10 and spent three years in the Padres organization. Flagg was a Diamond Dog from 2006-08 and played three years in the Mets farm system.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
