Mississippi State redshirt freshman Dezmond Harris will miss the remainder of the 2014 season with a torn ACL.
Harris suffered the injury during Saturday’s game against Auburn. The 6-foot-4, 235-pounder from McCalla, Ala., as appeared in all six games, mainly on special teams, and made 10 tackles.
True freshmen linebackers Gerri Green and J.T. Gray have redshirted so far this season.
“We’ve got some young linebackers that are sitting right there (redshirting) that are good players are good enough to start,” said MSU coach Dan Mullen. “Now there might be an opportunity for them to go play this year. We’re at the halfway point and I don’t like to (burn a redshirt) after this. We’ll decide within the next two weeks.”
Harris tore his other ACL playing quarterback in a preseason jamboree prior to his senior year at McAdory High School.
