Mississippi State remained the nation’s top-ranked team for the fifth consecutive week.

The Bulldogs were voted No. 1 in both the Associated Press and Coaches’ Poll on Sunday. MSU received 48 of 60 first place votes in the AP Poll while garnering 41 of 62 first place nods in the Coaches’ Poll.

ESPN announced that its ‘College GameDay’ pregame show would originate from Tuscaloosa, Ala., this week – the site of the Bulldogs’ SEC West showdown with No. 4 Alabama.

It will be the second time this season that ‘College GameDay’ would showcase one of State’s games. The show was in Starkville on Oct. 11 for the Bulldogs’ 38-23 win over Auburn.

Saturday’s kickoff between the Bulldogs and Crimson Tide will be at 2:30 p.m. on CBS.

Alabama leads the series 77-18-3 all-time against Mississippi State including a 41-9-1 mark in Tuscaloosa. The Tide have won six straight overall in the series.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
