Mississippi State junior quarterback Dak Prescott was picked as one of five finalists for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award.

The Unitas Golden Arm Award is presented annually to the nation’s top quarterback that is at least in his fourth season. Joining Prescott as a finalist is UCLA’s Brett Hundley, USC’s Cody Kessler, Oregon’s Marcus Mariotta and Baylor’s Bryce Petty.

The winner will be announced on Dec. 8 with the award being presented four days later in Baltimore.

Prescott currently leads the country with four 200-yard passing and 100-yard rushing games this season. He also has a nation-best 202.4 quarterback rating on third downs and has scored 14 of his 29 touchdowns on third down.

Alabama’s A.J. McCarron won the Golden Arm Award last season.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
