STARKVILLE – Following 17 pressure-packed intrasquad scrimmages, the Mississippi State baseball team will conclude its fall season with the annual Bulldog World Series, which begins Friday at Dudy Noble Field. Admission is free for the best-of-five competition between Maroon and Gray.

Both teams were selected Thursday afternoon by MSU’s nine seniors, who make up the captains for each squad. Picking for Maroon were infielder Seth Heck, catcher Cody Walker, right-handed pitcher Trevor Fitts and left-handed pitcher Lucas Laster. Selecting Gray’s team were outfielder Jake Vickerson, infielder Matthew Britton, catcher Zack Randolph, first baseman Wes Rea and left-handed pitcher Ross Mitchell.

Mitchell will start on the mound for Gray in Game One, going up against Maroon sophomore southpaw Daniel Brown. First pitch is slated for 3:30 p.m. Game Two Saturday at 10 a.m. features Gray righty Preston Brown squaring off against Maroon right-hander Austin Sexton. Game Three, which takes place Sunday at 1 p.m., will showcase a battle between Laster and Gray freshman righty Jesse McCord.

Game Four and Game Five will be played Tuesday and Wednesday at 5 p.m. if necessary.
