Mississippi State head coach Rick Ray added his second 2016 commitment of the week landing Quitman power forward Darius Hicks.

The 6-foot-7, 210-pounder is considered the No. 2 prospect in Mississippi and the No. 29 power forward nationally by 247Sports.com.

Hicks chose the Bulldogs over offers from Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Middle Tennessee State, Ole Miss and Southern Miss.

The three-star prospect is averaging 26 points and 15 rebounds so far as a junior. Hicks joins four-star shooting guard D’Marcus Simonds of Buford, Ga., who committed on Tuesday.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
