Mesquite, Texas three-star quarterback Chason Virgil chose to reopen his recruitment after being offered a greyshirt by MSU and is no longer committed to the Bulldogs.

Virgil was slated to graduate early next month and had been committed to State since mid-May. He also holds offers from Arizona State, Auburn, Boise State, Clemson, Colorado, Florida, Missouri, Nebraska, SMU, Toledo and UCLA.

Entering Friday, the 6-foot-3, 170-pounder has completed 168 of 245 passes for 2,348 yards, 35 touchdowns and six interceptions while adding 309 yards and seven touchdowns on the ground.

The Bulldogs now have 30 commitments for 2015.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
