SEC honors for Prescott, Beckwith

Both quarterback Dak Prescott and guard Ben Beckwith garnered SEC weekly honors on Monday.

Prescott was named the conference Offensive Player of the Week for the third time this season following his four touchdown performance against Vanderbilt. The 6-foot-2, 230-pound junior completed 16 of 21 passes for 193 yards and three touchdowns while adding 30 yards rushing and another score.

β€œIt was good to get my momentum back going and get some easy completions,” Prescott said. β€œI trusted my guys and let it

go down field. It felt good to get the offense rolling like we did from the first series.”

It was also the third league honor for Beckwith, who was picked as the Offensive Lineman of the Week. The 6-foot-3, 306-pounder from Benton claimed the award after the LSU and Texas A&M games as well.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
