Mississippi State defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Geoff Collins has been nominated for the Broyles Award given annually to the nation’s top assistant coach.

Collins has served on Dan Mullen‘s staff since 2011 and currently has the top red zone defense in the country allowing only 13 touchdowns in 37 trips inside the 20-yard line.

The winner of the Broyles Award will be announced on Dec. 9 in Little Rock, Ark., and is named after former Arkansas coach Frank Broyles.
