Mississippi State placed five players on the All-Southeastern Conference team selected by the league’s coaches on Tuesday.
Junior quarterback Dak Prescott represented the Bulldogs on the first team offense while senior defensive end Preston Smith and junior linebacker Benardrick McKinney were named to the first team defense.
Senior offensive guard Ben Beckwith and junior running back Josh Robinson were selected to the second team
All five players were also picked for the Associated Press All-SEC team on Monday.
Prescott completed 61.2 percent of his passes for 2,996 yards, 24 touchdowns and 10 interceptions while adding 939 rushing yards and 13 more scores.
Smith topped the Bulldogs with 14.5 tackles for loss and nine sacks and was the SEC Defensive Lineman of the
Week three times. Smith finished with 44 tackles, two forced fumbles, two blocked kicks and two interceptions – one of which he returned for a touchdown. McKinney led the team in tackles for a second straight year with 61 stops. He also added eight tackles for loss, three sacks, one forced fumble and three fumble recoveries.
Beckwith was a three-time SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week winner and was a finalist for the Bulsworth Trophy. Robinson ran for 1,128 yards and 11 touchdowns and was second on the team with 28 receptions for 370 yards and another score.
Eight schools had four or more total All-SEC selections and 12 programs placed players on the first team. Coaches were not permitted to vote for their own players.
