Mullen, five Bulldogs receive more honors

Another day and yet more awards continue to roll in for Mississippi State and head coach Dan Mullen.

Athlon Sports named Mullen its Southeastern Conference Coach of the Year while selecting five Bulldogs on its All-SEC squad.

Junior quarterback Dak Prescott was picked to the first team as was junior linebacker Benardrick McKinney.

yards, 24 touchdowns and 10 interceptions while adding 939 rushing yards and 13 more scores. McKinney led the team in tackles for a second straight year with 61 stops. He also added eight tackles for loss, three sacks, one forced fumble and three fumble recoveries.

Junior running back Josh Robinson was selected to the second team offense along with senior guard Ben Beckwith. Senior defensive end Preston Smith was named to the second team defense.

Robinson ran for 1,128 yards and 11 touchdowns and was second on the team with 28 receptions for 370 yards and another score while Beckwith was a three-time SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week winner and was a finalist for the Bulsworth Trophy.

Smith topped the Bulldogs with 14.5 tackles for loss and nine sacks and was the SEC Defensive Lineman of theWeek three times. Smith finished with 44 tackles, two forced fumbles, two blocked kicks and two interceptions – one of which he returned for a touchdown.
