Despite having his redshirt burned late in the year, Mississippi State linebacker J.T. Gray earned a spot on the Southeastern Conference All-Freshman team.

Gray made the most of his five games on the field making nine tackles (four solo, five assists) and adding two quarterback hurries.

The 6-foot, 196-pounder from Clarksdale was pressed into action due to a season-ending injury to Dezmond Harris. Gray made his debut against Arkansas and made the tackle on the opening kickoff.

Defensive tackle Chris Jones earned SEC All-Freshman accolades last year.
