Mississippi State junior linebacker Benardrick McKinney received more recognition this week after being named a Walter Camp All-American.

McKinney was selected to the second team and was the first linebacker in school history to be picked for the honor from the Walter Camp Football Foundation. He was the sixth Bulldogs linebacker to be named an All-American and first since Mario Haggan in 2000.

The 6-foot-5, 249-pounder from Tunica led the team with 61 tackles including eight for loss, three sacks, one forced fumble and three fumble recoveries.

Former MSU offensive guard Gabe Jackson was selected as a second team Walter Camp All-American last year.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
