McKinney selected as an SI All-American

Mississippi State junior linebacker Benardrick McKinney was selected as a first team All-American by Sports Illustrated on Tuesday.

The 6-foot-5, 249-pounder from Tunica is the first Bulldog to be selected as a first team All-American by the publication and first MSU All-American linebacker since Mario Haggan received the honor from The Sporting News in 2000.

McKinney led the Bulldogs with 61 tackles, eight tackles

for loss, three sacks, one forced fumble and three fumble recoveries.

Bulldogs junior quarterback Dak Prescott received an honorable mention from Sports Illustrated to be an All-American.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
