Mississippi State wide receivers coach and passing coordinator Billy Gonzales has interviewed for the head coaching vacancy at Colorado State according to Matt L. Stephens of the Coloradoan.

Gonzales was a four-year letterwinner and a two-year starter at wide receiver for the Rams. He graduated with a degree in social sciences from Colorado State in 1994.

Gonzales is in his second season with the Bulldogs and his fourth stop with Dan Mullen with previous stints at Bowling Green, Utah and Florida.

The Colorado State job opened when Jim McElwain left to take head coaching vacancy at Florida on Dec. 4.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
