Prior to kickoff in Wednesday’s Orange Bowl, ESPN broadcaster Brent Musburger announced that Mississippi State quarterback Dak Prescott was returning for his senior season in Starkville.
At the postgame press conference, Prescott refuted that statement and that he had not made up his mind about leaving early for the NFL.
“I’ll talk with Coach (Dan) Mullen and my family and decide that,” Prescott said. “I don’t remember making any remarks about it.”
Later in the locker room, Prescott reiterated that he never told Musburger he was returning to MSU.
Bulldogs junior running back Josh Robinson declared for the NFL Draft on Wednesday morning. Robinson did not receive a first or second round grade from the NFL.
“It was always the thought process that I had ever since I stepped foot on Mississippi State’s campus,” Robinson said. “It just came through and I thought it was my time.”
Junior linebacker Benardrick McKinney also remains undecided on his NFL future.
“The season is over and I’m just going to talk it over with my coaches and my family and whatever happens, happens,” McKinney said. “I’m going home and just going to take a break. I’m going to get my body back right. I’m going to pray on it and if it’s my time to leave then it’s my time to leave.”
