Wide receiver Robert Johnson, tight end Brandon Hill and linebacker Christian Holmes will represent Mississippi State in the 21st annual USA College Football Bowl at 1 p.m. today at Newell Stadium in Jackson.
Johnson, a 6-foot-1, 210-pounder, started 27 of his 46 career games. He caught 69 passes for 822 yards and three touchdowns. As a senior, the Hattiesburg native hauled in 14 balls for 227 yards including a career-long 68-yard touchdown against UAB.
Hill played in 45 games and earned four starts. The former West Lowndes standout caught 11 passes for 159 yards and a touchdown during his career. As a senior, he caught three passes for 57 yards and a touchdown. The 6-foot-2, 240-pounder is expected to play linebacker in the all-star game.
Holmes appeared in 52 games and drew one start. He recorded 100 career tackles including two for loss, three forced fumbles and returned a fumble 51-yards for a touchdown. The 6-foot-1, 230-pound Puckett product finished third on the team with 60 tackles in 2014 and also returned an onside kick 61-yards for a score as a senior.
