Mississippi State’s 2016 took a blow Saturday evening as four-star running back Tre Turner announced that he would reopen his recruitment.

The 5-foot-10, 193-pounder from New Orleans posted on his Twitter account that “I have decided to de-commit today and reopen my recruitment to ensure I make the right choice. Miss. St is still high on my list and the coaches and fans have been great.”

Turner had been committed to the Bulldogs since Oct. 14. He also holds offers from Arizona State, Arkansas, Houston, Louisiana-Lafayette, Miami, Missouri, Ole Miss, SMU, Southern Miss and Tulane.

Turner rushed for 858 yards and nine touchdowns for Holy Cross as a junior. He is the fourth member of MSU’s 2016 class to decommit. The class is ranked No. 10 nationally by 247Sports.com.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
