Mississippi State guard Victoria Vivians was named the SEC Freshman of the Week for the third time this season.
Vivians averaged 24.5 points per game last week including setting a school single-game freshman record with 39 points in the Bulldogs double overtime loss at Kentucky. The 39 points was the most by a freshman in the SEC this year and ties for the most nationally.
The Carthage native shot 45.7 percent from the field and 53.8 percent from 3-point range last week. Vivians is averaging 18.4 points against ranked opponents this season.
She shared the weekly honor with South Carolina forward A’ja Wilson.
Vivians leads all SEC freshmen and tops the Bulldogs averaging 15 points per game.
The Bulldogs are No. 14 in this week’s Associated Press poll.
