Mississippi State’s Ryan Gridley has been selected as the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week.
Gridley went 5-for-11 over the weekend with two doubles, a home run, seven RBI, six runs scored and a pair of stolen bases. He had the game-winning RBI single on Sunday to complete a four-game sweep against Alabama A&M and Marshall.
The Milton, Ga., native also maintained a flawless fielding percentage in 23 chances at second base.
Gridley becomes the first Bulldog to earn the honor since Jacob Lindgren in 2012.
For the year, Gridley is batting .529 with nine hits, two doubles, a homer and eight RBI starting six of the seven games in which he has appeared.
