Mississippi State freshman guard Victoria Vivians was named one of three finalists for the C Spire Gillom Trophy, awarded annually to the top women’s basketball player in the state.
Vivians leads the 11th-ranked Bulldogs and all SEC rookies with 15 points per game. The Carthage native averaged 13.8 points during conference play which ranked seventh overall.
Vivians was the SEC Freshman of the Week four times throughout the year and was also a National Freshman of the Week honoree following a freshman school-record 39-point performance at Kentukcy.
Joining Vivians as finalists for the Gillom Trophy are Ole Miss senior forward Tia Faleru and Southern Miss senior forward Tamara Jones.
The Gillom Trophy will be presented on March 9 at the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Museum in Jackson. USM’s Jamierra Faulkner won the award last year.
