Mississippi State’s Southeastern Conference opener with Alabama has been canceled for Friday due to inclement weather.

The Twin State rivals will instead play a Saturday doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. Sunday’s series finale has not been affected and is still scheduled for 1:30 p.m.

Junior right-hander Preston Brown (3-1, 1.93 ERA) will start Game 1 for the Bulldogs on Saturday while the Crimson Tide counter with senior southpaw Taylor Guilbeau (2-1, 2.67 ERA). MSU sophomore righty Austin Sexton (2-0, 2.61 ERA) will get the ball in Game 2 while Alabama goes with junior right-hander Will Carter (1-1, 4.35 ERA).

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
