Mississippi State is going dancing for the first time since 2010.
The Bulldogs (26-6) were selected as a No. 5 seed in the Durham Regional and will face 12th-seeded Tulane in the opening round Friday at 1:30 p.m. CT.
Vic Schaefer‘s Bulldogs won a school-best 11 SEC games and 26 games overall while finishing third in the conference standings.
MSU is 6-6 all-time in seven NCAA Tournament appearances with its deepest run to the Sweet 16 coming under Sharon Fanning-Otis in 2010.
The Green Wave (22-10) will be a familiar opponent for the Bulldogs. The two teams have met in each of the last three seasons with two being scrimmages won by Tulane. State eliminated the Green Wave 77-68 in the opening round of the 2014 WNIT in Starkville.
The series between Mississippi State and Tulane is tied 5-5 overall and this will be the first ever meeting in the NCAA Tournament.
Friday’s winner will advance to face the victor of No. 13 seed Albany and fourth-seeded host Duke.
