Mississippi State’s decision to change men’s basketball coaches has claimed another commitment.

Quitman three-star forward Darius Hicks announced that he was reopening his recruitment just minutes after the Bulldogs made the hire of Ben Howland official.

“I have decided to reopen my recruitment due to the coaching change” Hicks stated on his Twitter account.

The 6-foot-7, 210-pounder had been committed to MSU since Nov. 21. His departure leaves the Bulldogs 2016 class empty as four-star shooting guard D’Marcus Simonds de-committed after Rick Ray was fired on Saturday.

Hicks also has offers from Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Middle Tennessee State, Ole Miss and Southern Miss.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
