Houston Texans head coach Bill O’Brien will be one of the keynote speakers at this year’s MSU Coaches Clinic.

Area high school coaches who attend the 2015 Mississippi State Coaches Clinic will be in for a treat this week as Ohio State coach Urban Meyer and Houston Texans coach Bill O’Brien headline the event.

The event will be held Thursday and Friday with Meyer speaking Friday from 1-2:15 p.m. and O’Brien later from 7:15-8:30 p.m. The entire Bulldogs staff will conduct individual sessions with prep coaches as well on both days.

Meyer and MSU coach Dan Mullen worked together for nine years during stints at Notre Dame, Bowling Green, Utah and Florida producing national championships in 2006 and 2008 with the Gators.

Past keynote speakers have included Bobby Bowden and Ed Orgeron.

The cost of the clinic is $45 for coaches that pre-register and $50 at the door. The price drops to $40 per person for staffs that bring more than four coaches.

The admission price includes a crawfish boil following the Bulldogs practice on Thursday, catfish and chicken tenders for lunch Friday and a pulled pork and ribs dinner on Friday evening after State’s practice.

Registration starts at noon Thursday with the clinic concluding Friday night at 11 p.m.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
