Mississippi State signee Tookie Brown wants to reopen his recruitment.

New Mississippi State men’s basketball coach Ben Howland is now in search of a point guard in the 2015 class.

Three-star point guard signee Tookie Brown released a statement via Twitter “I have decided to reopen my recruitment. Thanks to all the coaches at Mississippi State that recruited me. I love all the fans and the campus at Mississippi State but this is something that my family and I decided that I should do.”

The 5-foot-10, 180-pounder from Madison, Ga., signed with the Bulldogs last fall. He had no other offers when he committed in January 2014.

In order to sign with another school, Brown will have to be released from his letter of intent by the Bulldogs.

Brown is the third MSU pledge to back out of a commitment amid the coaching change when Howland replaced Rick Ray.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
