Hughes comments on spring safety play

Both of Mississippi State’s starting safeties from last season are not available to assistant coach Tony Hughes this spring. His son, Jay, has graduated while rising senior Kendrick Market is still recovering from an Achilles injury suffered in the Egg Bowl. Those factors have given the opportunity to younger players at the position and Tony Hughes briefly talks about their progress so far. He begins by talking about Jahmere Irvin-Sills, who made the move to safety this spring.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
