Mississippi State senior closer Trevor Fitts has earned a spot on the SEC Community Service Team.

Fitts served as a physical education teacher at Henderson Intermediate School in Starkville and also volunteered to read to students at East Oktibbeha Elementary and Ward Stewart Elementary.

The Pelham, Ala., native also delivered gifts to patients at Blair E. Batson Hospital for Children in Jackson last July.

Fitts earned his degree over the weekend and was a member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll each semester during his collegiate career.

On the field, Fitts holds a 2-4 record with a team-leading six saves. He also sports a team-low 2.03 earned run average with 28 strikeouts and 12 walks in 31 innings of work.

I have covered Mississippi State in some capacity since 2004 and joined the Daily Journal staff in 2013. I enjoy short walks on the beach, performing concerts in my car and watching professional wrestling.
